The surge in popularity of the Lexus marque in New Zealand continued in April 2024, with the Japanese luxury brand taking pole position for luxury passenger vehicle registrations.
With 104 registrations in April, Lexus continues its growth in the New Zealand market, fuelled by a range of electrified SUVs and new, attractive models such as the first-ever LBX hybrid compact SUV and RZ, battery electric SUV.
Lexus New Zealand Vice President Andrew Davis said the range of stylish and premium electrified Lexus cars and SUVs was expanding and appealing to a wide range of new and existing Lexus customers.
“From LBX through to the large LX, Lexus now has a wide range of premium vehicles, incorporating multiple powertrains from full electric to plug-in hybrid, hybrid and petrol or diesel-only,” Davis says.
Registrations in April took Lexus to number two overall for the first four months of the year with 463 registrations. Davis says the strong sales performance is particularly pleasing given current economic conditions in New Zealand.
He says the growth of the marque is being driven by global and local recognition of the design, build and performance qualities of the brand. For example, the best-selling Lexus RX was awarded 2023 Luxury Car of the Year by a leading local auto magazine and the brand new LBX has been recognised in various global awards.
Davis says the awards are humbling for a brand that is still very much in a growth phase in New Zealand.
“We and our dealership partners are focused on growing market share for Lexus in New Zealand, which is a testament to our loyal customers who have contributed to our record sales year in 2023 and now April’s sales result.”
“The investment in new dealerships from our partners highlights the strength of our brand, and our excitement for our customers, current and new, to experience the sustainable future of Lexus here in New Zealand,” says Davis.
