The hybrid battery is always charging — even whilst braking. When the hybrid electric vehicle stops or slows down, the regenerative braking system converts the kinetic energy produced from the braking process into electrical power, which is then routed to the battery to charge.

THE HYBRID BATTERY

In a Lexus hybrid electric vehicle, the battery is charging even when you’re driving. The heat energy generated while driving and during braking is repurposed to charge the hybrid electric battery. This means your Lexus never has to be plugged in to charge.

EV DRIVE MODE

With the push of a button, switch to EV mode and use only electric power for a silent, zero-emission drive. EV mode is recommended for city driving at low speeds.
