An invitation to drive
The GS350 provides a more engaging driving experience via advanced aerodynamics, a completely new platform with a wider stance and stiffer structure, a transmission with quicker shifts, distinctive engine sound and exhaust notes, and better seat support. The all-new multi-link rear suspension maximises tyre cornering force and enhances rear control. Overall, the suspension is lighter and stronger, allowing it to react to driver input quickly while aiding ride quality.

A powerful, personal driving experience
The New Generation GS is powered by an advanced 3.5-litre all-alloy quad-cam, multi-valve V6, featuring dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). With 233kW, the New Generation GS can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds and a gear acceleration of 50 to 80km/h takes just 3.0 seconds.

The six-speed sequential shift automatic transmission has paddle shifters and sport driving functions as standard.

The transmission incorporates many features adopted from the Lexus IS F high-performance sedan - including faster shifts, earlier torque converter lockup and downshift throttle blips - to support four driving modes that can be operated by toggling the new Lexus Drive Mode selector.

In addition to the Normal mode, the following settings let the driver customise the driving experience:

  • ECO mode revises throttle mapping, seat heating and climate control systems for better fuel economy. In ECO mode, meter lighting changes to blue.
  • SPORT S mode revises throttle mapping and transmission shifting priorities to fully exploit the capabilities of the powertrain. In SPORT S mode, meter lighting changes to red.
  • SPORT S+ mode (available on some models) engages handling enhancements via a sport setting of the adaptive variable suspension, variable gear ratio steering system, and vehicle stability control (VSC) together with the powertrain enhancements of SPORT S mode.

A new direction for L finesse design
The New Generation GS expresses the new direction of Lexus' design philosophy, with its precisely sculpted exterior signalling the design direction for future vehicles.

The signature spindle grille with its trapezoidal contours evolved from current Lexus styling and fully integrates into the aggressive front bumper, allowing for efficient airflow.

This distinctive Lexus design feature combined with the deep-set, high-tech headlamps and L-shaped LED daytime running lamps further expresses the vehicle's confident and dynamic character.

Headlamps use a projector beam design, adding a strong, chiselled appearance and excellent illumination.

The tapered lower rocker panel and the short front overhang give the vehicle a sense of motion.

Width-enhancing front and rear wheel arches add an athletic stance and enhance the vehicle's dynamic presence.

The rear bumper features a distinctive exhaust diffuser and centred aero fins to help control underbody airflow.

Combined with the L-shaped LED tail lamps, a Lexus design cue, these rear bumper features lend a high-performance appearance.

From the side, the GS projects the image of a spacious sports sedan with its road-hugging stance.

Overall, the new GS sheet metal represents a significant extension of the Lexus L-finesse philosophy that is the core of all Lexus product design.

Superior interior comfort
The luxurious interior of the New Generation GS provides ample space for all occupants.  The entire cabin was created around the driver and the driving experience and painstaking attention to detail was applied to the GS cabin, creating a balance of luxurious and technological amenities and emotional design

A redesigned seat frame and changes to the steering column architecture enable an improved driver seating position for increased comfort, better forward visibility and overall command of the road.

Equal attention has been paid to maximising space for rear passengers, adding headroom, legroom, knee room and improved foot space compared with the current generation GS. Boot space has been increased by almost 25 per cent, accommodating four sets of golf clubs easily.

The new layout of the long, sculpted dash gives the driver and front passenger a sense of roominess through its clean centre stack and new, large high-resolution centre control display placed deep near the front windshield.

Most of the controls, such as audio and climate, have been relocated to provide a cleaner and more sophisticated dash layout.

A new energy-saving auto climate control system called S-Flow uses the occupant-detection system to focus airflow only to the front area where passengers are actually seated, a class-leading technology.

Remote Touch with one-push confirmation is standard on all models and enables smooth, intuitive operations control.
The Remote Touch allows the user to operate the climate, audio, phone controls, navigation system and more. The screen menus are selected with the controller, eliminating the need to reach out.   Remote Touch also reduces eye movement and helps users operate functions with reduced effort and distraction.

A standard reverse camera helps add security and convenience.

The finely crafted cabin detail is complemented further by ambient lighting that unobtrusively welcomes and guides the user into the vehicle, providing a carefully designed experience.  Furthermore, new white LED lights are sequentially lit to illuminate the areas around the doors, centre console and foot wells.

An analogue clock with LED indicators, carved from an ingot, adds a unique touch, at once being both modern and traditional.

Connectivity & entertainment
The New Generation GS features an industry-first 12.3-inch, split-screen, high-resolution multi-media display on selected models. The split-screen ultra-large display enhances visibility through the use of advanced, high-definition graphics that are easy to read and use. GS owners will enjoy DVD-capable audio and video compatibility, MP3 sound enhancement, 5.1 Surround Sound and streaming audio.

The 12.3-inch screen is large enough to support simultaneous, split-screen viewing of a large map display, plus audio, climate or other vehicle information.

New Generation GS buyers will get DVD-capable audio and video compatibility, MP3 sound enhancement, 5.1 Surround Sound, along with enhanced Bluetooth®^ capability with automatic phonebook download and streaming audio.

For audiophiles, an 835-watt, 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system will be available.

The system provides 7.1 Surround Sound through 10 channels using a new class D Digital amplifier and efficient luxury market first Green Edge™ speakers that are lighter, more energy-efficient and have less distortion.

Integrated safety systems
In addition to enhanced braking systems and an impact-absorbing body structure, the New Generation GS offers significant advances in both passive and active safety systems as standard.

There are a class-leading 10 airbags in the New Generation GS, including a knee airbag for both front driver and passenger. Rear seat occupants have seat-mounted side airbags, and all four outboard occupants are equipped with side curtain airbags.

Standard seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters used for front and outboard rear seats further assist occupant protection.

The suite of safety features include a pre-collision system, which uses the dynamic radar cruise control system to provide early warning of upcoming objects that might result in a collision.

The system also uses a first-in-class infrared camera to monitor the driver's eyes and check on driver status.  In the event that the driver does not appear to be looking forward when a collision appears imminent, the system will initiate the warning at an earlier threshold.  If the driver still does not respond and make the appropriate manoeuvre, the system will initiate braking intervention up to two seconds prior to impact, helping to lessen the severity of the collision.

Other available safety systems include a Heads Up Display (HUD) and a Blind Spot Monitor that helps detect vehicles in rear/side blind spots.

A total of 14 vents ensure even distribution of air. Conveniently, rear seat occupants can tailor temperature settings via the rear seat console.
Active Front-Seat Headrests
Triggered by lower back pressure against the seat, these unique headrests automatically pop up and move forward to help reduce possible whiplash injury in certain lower speed rear impact collisions.
Adaptive Front Lighting System
The Adaptive Front Lighting System ensures a full, well-lit view for safer driving at night while cornering. The left beam can swivel from 0 to 15 degrees in a left turn, while the right beam can swivel from 0 to 5 degrees in a right turn.
Automatic Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps
For enhanced visibility, Bi-Xenon HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps provide wider, sharper illumination. They also last up to 10 times longer, are up to three times more powerful, and consume 30 percent less energy than conventional halogen headlamps. When the headlamps are switched to automatic mode the low beams turn on or off according to the ambient outside light.
Pre–Crash Safety system
To help reduce crash injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a crash is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist system to increase braking force and hence help reduce collision speed.
Rain Sensing Wipers
To allow you to keep your mind focussed on your driving, the Sports Luxury model is equipped with rain sensing wipers. When in 'Auto mode', the wipers activate the moment the sensor detects the first drops of rain falling on the windscreen.

Pretensioners & Force Limiters
Front seat belt features that work together to help reduce injury.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
Lexus Vehicle Stability Control senses and helps corrects oversteer and understeer situations to improve cornering stability.
Traction Control (TRC)
Slippery or undulating terrain, or a situation where one side of the vehicle is on a high-grip surface and the other side on a low-grip surface, can cause wheel spin on one or more wheels, and hence potential loss of control. Traction Control (TRC) modulates the vehicle's hybrid drive system and (if necessary) the brakes on individual wheels to ensure smooth acceleration and full control.
Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM)
The Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is designed to help maintian control of the vehicle in the event of a loss of traction such as a front-end or rear-end slide. It achieves this by integrating a number of systems within the vehicle, including electro-hydraulic Electronically Controlled Braking (ECB), Anti-skid brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control(TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) active safety systems with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).
Knee airbags
A class–leading SRS airbag package includes dual front airbags, front side airbags and full–length side curtain shield airbags as standard. In addition, all models have front knee airbags, to help reduce the chance of lower limb damage in a collision for front seat occupants
Active Cruise Control (ACC)
For more relaxed highway cruising, Active Cruise Control (ACC) monitors the road to maintain a set distance from the vehicla ahead. The radar sensor in the front grille works as part of the Active Cruise Control (ACC). You can simply set your preferred highway speed via touch control near the steering wheel, or you can set your desires following distance from the vehicle in front. Then, should the radar detect that distance is closing or detect another vehicle in your path, Active Cruise Control reduces your speed and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.
Airbag protection goes to new lengths
Exclusive to the LS 600hL 4 seat, an anti-submarine airbag in the Ottoman seat cushion helps optimise the position of the lower torso in the event of a collision, for greater seatbelt restraint. LS 600hL's SRS airbag package includes dual stage twin chamber front airbags, side airbags and knee airbags for the front seat occupants. There are also full length curtain shield airbags and rear side airbags for rear seat passengers.
Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC)
The Lexus Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) is an automatic function that prevents the car from rolling downhill when starting off, available on automatic transmission models. The system, a part of the IS 250C's brake control technology, can detect if the vehicle is rolling back during a hill start and will automatically apply brake pressure to the four wheels. This gives the driver enough time to press the accelerator, in a car that is as intelligent as it is good looking.
A twin chamber front passenger airbag
The dual stage front airbags not only deploy in accordance with the severity of collision impact. On the passenger's side is a dual chamber airbag, which secures the passenger's upper body to help disperse the physical impact.
Rear View Camera* for greater visibility
When you put the car into reverse, the Rear View Camera is immediately activated and a clear picture of the area behind the rear bumper can be seen on the EMV display*. In addition, Rear Guide Assist provides reference lines to help you judge distances.
WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) Front Seats
WIL seat design reduces the risk of neck injury during rear-end collision by simultaneously supporting the head and torso.
Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
EBD helps reduces stopping distances by adjusting brake line pressure more accurately than traditional proportioning valves.
Rear Fog Lamps
Bright rear fog lamps that shed snow provide added safety by allowing trailing vehicles to see you more clearly.
Shift Lock System
An automatic transmission is an automobile gearbox that can change gear ratios automatically as the vehicle moves, freeing the driver from having to shift gears manually. Similar but larger devices are also used for heavy-duty commercial and industrial vehicles and equipment.
