Parking simplicity with Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA)
Imagine slipping into a parking space without even turning the steering wheel. Simply align the car ahead of your intended park and, using the buttons on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) display, select reverse and remove your hands from the wheel. Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) parks the car with breathless precision, leaving little for you to do but touch the brake pedal to regulate speed.
Intuitive rain sensing wipers
To allow you to keep your mind focused on your driving, the LS 460 is equipped with rain sensing wipers. With the first drops of rain, sensors in the front windscreen automatically switch on the windscreen wipers, so you don't have to.
Distinctive 19" Alloy Wheels
Chrome plated alloy wheels complement the LS 460's distinctive styling, while low profile 245/45R19 tyres enhance its crisp handling. The LS 460 Sports features 19" forged alloy wheels engineered by BBS, an official supplier to Formula One.
Power operated sunroof
Bring the freshness of the outdoors into the cabin with fingertip ease via the power–operated glass sunroof. To cater for your needs, it has transmitter–linked and Smart Key–linked functions via the Customised Body Electrics System.
Adaptive Front Lighting looks around corners
To give you greater night vision, powerful High Intensity Discharge (HID) low high–beam headlamps. On winding roads, the Adaptive Front–lighting System (AFS) redirects the low–beams, so you can literally see around corners.
Electrochromatic Mirrors (Auto-dimming)
The exterior mirrors and rear view mirror are electrochromatic (auto-dimming). Select reverse, and the exterior mirrors tilt downward automatically to improve visibility. Moving forward, they quell annoying headlamp glare from following motorists at night.
Smart Key
Become instantly connected with your Lexus simply by having Smart Key in your pocket. You can unlock the car by gripping the door handle. Once inside, starting the car is as easy as pressing the start button.
Optitron Meter In The Dash
An Optitron meter with metallic accents and three dimension LED instrumentation enhances instrument clarity in all light conditions. Intelligently, it also enhances readability after dark.
MP3 and WMA Compatibility
For more music capacity, the CD player accepts MP3 and WMA formatted discs. Audio input & USB jacks let you plug in MP3 players like your iPod.
Perforated Sun Visors
An obsession with sound quality even extends to sun visors that are perforated like the walls of a sound studio, to absorb exterior sound and reduce cabin reverberation.
Satellite Navigation
A DVD-based Satellite Navigation system is available as an option. Visual maps and spoken commands guide you to your destination, making paper maps a thing of the past. It now offers enhanced precision, pinpointing your location with even greater accuracy.
Rear View Camera
Satellite Navigation-equipped cars come with a Rear View Camera mounted above the rear licence plate. Select reverse and a colour image of what's immediately behind your rear bumper appears on the EMV screen. Rear Guide Assist gives you a more precise indication of distances for easier parking and reversing.
In-Built Bluetooth
In models with the Satellite Navigation package you can register your Bluetooth™ compatible mobile with the inbuilt system for hands free communication. Call functions are right at your fingertips via the EMV screen, letting you search the phone book, register and receive calls.
Mark Levinson Premium Audio
An audio system with 13 strategically located speakers and a 6-disc in dash CD changer surpasses most luxury cars. The chief engineer even sourced water from springs famous for producing premium quality sake to develop a new cone paper for the sub woofer speaker.  The bar is raised even higher with an optional 14-speaker system created by audiophile designer Mark Levinson. Audio controls are also located on the steering wheel.
LED Multi-reflector Brake Lamps
LED brake lamps add style and improve visibility from trailing vehicles.
Eco Driving Indicator
The Eco Driving Indicator function is tied to the engine to help facilitate fuel efficient and environmentally conscious driving. When the driver uses the accelerator pedal in a fuel-efficient manner, a lamp on the Eco Driving Indicator Zone Display lights up. When accelerator operation moves beyond the eco driving zone, the indicator lamp will start blinking.
Clearance and Backup Sensor
Clearance and backup sensor detect obstacles or a high-curb and send a warning signal to the driver.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
This sophisticated easy-to-use milli-wave radar system automatically maintains a set speed and driver-selected distance from the vehicle ahead.
Pre-Collision System
This advanced safety feature senses an unavoidable collision and automatically initiates steps to reduce the potential for injuries.
Intuitive Park Assist
For added safety and vehicle protection the Intuitive Park Assist System features sonar sensors at the front and rear corners, and the back of the vehicle. If the sensors detect an obstacle in potential blind spots, the system alerts the driver with an in-dash light and audible warning.
Adaptive Laser Cruise Control
This sophisticated, easy-to-use infra-red laser system automatically maintains a set speed and driver-selected distance from the vehicle ahead.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
Lexus Vehicle Stability Control senses and helps corrects oversteer and understeer situations to improve cornering stability.
Electric rear sunshade
To reduce glare in the rear seat of Sports Luxury models, an electric rear sunshade extends over the rear window at the touch of a button, for greater passenger comfort. It retracts automatically when reverse is selected.
Hardtop folds away in seconds
At the touch of a button the lightweight aluminium three-part roof folds neatly away in just 20 seconds, instantly transforming your driving experience. The roof folds into the boot, with cutting edge design allowing for the convenience of luggage space even while you're enjoying open topped motoring. Roof speed brake control ensures the roof closes smoothly.
Enhanced climate control
Determined to offer a vehicle that allows you to create the perfect cabin temperature even faster than previous systems, Lexus engineers implemented several improvements including a newly developed air conditioning unit.
Illuminated entry welcomes you aboard
As you approach the vehicle after dark, a puddle light beneath each exterior mirror illuminates your path. Then as you step inside, a neatly choreographed lighting sequence guides your way and provides a warm welcome.
The simplicity of the Lexus Remote Touch
To make driving even easier, Lexus has placed key vehicle functions at your fingertips via a Lexus Remote Touch controller on the console. With the simplicity of a computer mouse, you can access up to 20 functions with fingertip precision. So, for example, you can plot your route with the Satellite Navigation with just a few clicks of the controller. It's yet another example of advanced Lexus technology for enhanced driving pleasure, allowing seamless interaction between you and the vehicle, while allowing you to concentrate on your driving.
Remain focused with Head-Up Display
To help you keep your eyes on the road ahead, a Head-Up Display (HUD) in the Sports Luxury model positions key information on the windscreen just above the dash panel. This means you can view your speed, simplified navigation arrows, audio settings or the Pre-Collision Safety System brake warning, in a clear display, all without having to take your eyes off the road.
Adjustable rear headrests
The rear headrests are height adjustable to suit rear passengers of all heights. They're also foldable which offers the driver with enhanced rear visibility when not in use.
The personalised comfort of four–seat climate control
Your passengers in the outer rear seats, the driver and the front passenger can each enjoy personalised comfort settings independently of each other with four–seat independent climate control. A total of 14 vents ensure even distribution of air. Conveniently, rear seat occupants can tailor temperature settings via the rear seat console.
Active Front-Seat Headrests
Triggered by lower back pressure against the seat, these unique headrests automatically pop up and move forward to help reduce possible whiplash injury in certain lower speed rear impact collisions.
Adaptive Front Lighting System
The Adaptive Front Lighting System ensures a full, well-lit view for safer driving at night while cornering. The left beam can swivel from 0 to 15 degrees in a left turn, while the right beam can swivel from 0 to 5 degrees in a right turn.
Automatic Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps
For enhanced visibility, Bi-Xenon HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps provide wider, sharper illumination. They also last up to 10 times longer, are up to three times more powerful, and consume 30 percent less energy than conventional halogen headlamps. When the headlamps are switched to automatic mode the low beams turn on or off according to the ambient outside light.
Pre–Crash Safety system
To help reduce crash injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a crash is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist system to increase braking force and hence help reduce collision speed.
Rain Sensing Wipers
To allow you to keep your mind focussed on your driving, the Sports Luxury model is equipped with rain sensing wipers. When in 'Auto mode', the wipers activate the moment the sensor detects the first drops of rain falling on the windscreen.
Electrochromic, Heated, Power Side Mirrors
These side mirrors improve driver visibility by 'auto-dimming' the light reflection from the trailing vehicle. These auto-dimming mirrors are heated to shed ice and frost.
Pretensioners & Force Limiters
Front seat belt features that work together to help reduce injury.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
Lexus Vehicle Stability Control senses and helps corrects oversteer and understeer situations to improve cornering stability.
Traction Control (TRC)
Slippery or undulating terrain, or a situation where one side of the vehicle is on a high-grip surface and the other side on a low-grip surface, can cause wheel spin on one or more wheels, and hence potential loss of control. Traction Control (TRC) modulates the vehicle's hybrid drive system and (if necessary) the brakes on individual wheels to ensure smooth acceleration and full control.
Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM)
The Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is designed to help maintian control of the vehicle in the event of a loss of traction such as a front-end or rear-end slide. It achieves this by integrating a number of systems within the vehicle, including electro-hydraulic Electronically Controlled Braking (ECB), Anti-skid brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control(TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) active safety systems with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).
Knee airbags
A class–leading SRS airbag package includes dual front airbags, front side airbags and full–length side curtain shield airbags as standard. In addition, all models have front knee airbags, to help reduce the chance of lower limb damage in a collision for front seat occupants
Active Cruise Control (ACC)
For more relaxed highway cruising, Active Cruise Control (ACC) monitors the road to maintain a set distance from the vehicla ahead. The radar sensor in the front grille works as part of the Active Cruise Control (ACC). You can simply set your preferred highway speed via touch control near the steering wheel, or you can set your desires following distance from the vehicle in front. Then, should the radar detect that distance is closing or detect another vehicle in your path, Active Cruise Control reduces your speed and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.
Airbag protection goes to new lengths
Exclusive to the LS 600hL 4 seat, an anti-submarine airbag in the Ottoman seat cushion helps optimise the position of the lower torso in the event of a collision, for greater seatbelt restraint. LS 600hL's SRS airbag package includes dual stage twin chamber front airbags, side airbags and knee airbags for the front seat occupants. There are also full length curtain shield airbags and rear side airbags for rear seat passengers.
Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC)
The Lexus Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) is an automatic function that prevents the car from rolling downhill when starting off, available on automatic transmission models. The system, a part of the IS 250C's brake control technology, can detect if the vehicle is rolling back during a hill start and will automatically apply brake pressure to the four wheels. This gives the driver enough time to press the accelerator, in a car that is as intelligent as it is good looking.
A twin chamber front passenger airbag
The dual stage front airbags not only deploy in accordance with the severity of collision impact. On the passenger's side is a dual chamber airbag, which secures the passenger's upper body to help disperse the physical impact.
Rear View Camera* for greater visibility
When you put the car into reverse, the Rear View Camera is immediately activated and a clear picture of the area behind the rear bumper can be seen on the EMV display*. In addition, Rear Guide Assist provides reference lines to help you judge distances.
WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) Front Seats
WIL seat design reduces the risk of neck injury during rear-end collision by simultaneously supporting the head and torso.
Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
EBD helps reduces stopping distances by adjusting brake line pressure more accurately than traditional proportioning valves.
Rear Fog Lamps
Bright rear fog lamps that shed snow provide added safety by allowing trailing vehicles to see you more clearly.
Shift Lock System
An automatic transmission is an automobile gearbox that can change gear ratios automatically as the vehicle moves, freeing the driver from having to shift gears manually. Similar but larger devices are also used for heavy-duty commercial and industrial vehicles and equipment.
